Imaginative living designed by internationally acclaimed architect Philippe Starck. The 40 story landmark building offers 382 innovative apartments, and 160 different floor plans. Every amenity you can think of is right here on site.
The building was built for the Equitable Trust Company and was therefore called the Equitable Trust Building.[1] Replacing two older buildings on the previous site, it was completed in 1928. The Equitable Trust Co. was one of the units of the Chase National Bank organizations, back then one of the largest and most powerful banking institutions in the world. The law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell used to be located in the predecessor building from around 1889 and moved out when it was demolished, but returned to the address into the newly completed building and stayed there until 1959.
The architects were Trowbridge & Livingston, who also drew plans for the Bankers Trust Co., New York Stock Exchange, Bank of America, J. P. Morgan Bank at 23 Wall Street and other famous Wall Street buildings. The builder was the Thompson Starrett Co., the agent Douglas Cruikshank.
The latest incarnation of 15 Broad Street is Downtown by Starck, designed by the French Philippe Starck along with project architect Ismael Leyva and developer A.I. & Boymelgreen. Remodeling was performed from 2003 through 2007, and it's one of the true showpieces of the Financial District. -
